SYNOPSIS
The death of General Franco on November 20, 1975 and the immediate appointment of Joan Carles I as King of Spain opened a process of transition from dictatorship to the reinstatement of democratic institutions that also entailed the recovery of the Governem of Catalonia, in a climate of exile from the Franco regime and the vindication of civil liberties.
Under the title ‘Tarradellas, govern d’unitat’, the documentary makes a historical review of the political moment of the constitution of the government of unity between 1977 and 1980 led by president Josep Tarradellas, the only republican authority who returned from a forty-year exile to assume a position of relevance in the emerging democracy. The film gathers the direct testimony of some of the councilors of the government, as well as Narcís Serra, councilor of Territorial Policy and Public Works of the PSC, Ramon Espasa, councilor of Health of the PSUC and Jordi Pujol, political councilor of the unity government, among others.
